Stanley Cup Champion Pittsburgh Penguins Help Make Wishes Come True

More than 85 wish kids, Make-A-Wish volunteers and hockey fans got to bowl with their favorite Pittsburgh Penguins players at "Pens & Pins," a charity bowling tournament on Friday, January 22, 2010, at the Crafton-Ingram Bowling Lanes in Pittsburgh, PA. At the event, sponsored by the Pittsburgh Penguins Wives & Girlfriends, Pens players served as celebrity team captains for each competing bowling team. All proceeds benefited the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Greater Pennsylvania and Southern West Virginia.
The night was thoroughly enjoyed by all who attended.
"Noah had a great time and was already talking about attending next year," said wish dad Bill. "It's so great that the Pens take time to attend the event and it means so much to the young ones to meet them."
Besides a game of bowling, the event also allowed bowlers to purchase homemade baked goods provided by the team's wives and girlfriends, participate in a silent auction and purchase mystery pucks signed by the players. The Penguins' bowling shirts are being auctioned off on the NHL Auction site until February 12, 2010. The event netted more than $30,000 thus far.
The Penguins also fulfill other specific wishes throughout the hockey season and invite wish kids to their annual autograph party. Each season, the team contributes funds from their Jumbotron message sales to the Foundation, and Penguins captain Sidney Crosby donates tickets for his private box to wish families.

The Make-A-Wish Foundation is grateful for the support of the Pittsburgh Penguins. We could not make wishes come true without you! Thank you!
